In Vancouver Mr Mitchell wrote several Instructional Course Lectures for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, was involved in the setting up of the Academy on-line textbook and wrote original papers in several areas of Revision Surgery.

At St George's Mr Mitchell offers a tertiary referral service for complex hip and knee procedures, particularly management of the infected hip and knee replacement, management of significant bone loss in revision surgery and periprosthetic fractures.
